The United Way of Central Georgia addresses the immediate needs of local children, adults, and families while establishing long-term solutions to challenges families face.
We do this by vetting and investing in community-based programs and services, leading community change initiatives, and mobilizing resources and volunteers.
A Grantee Partner is an agency that has an ongoing funding relationship with United Way, is certified annually and adheres to United Way stewardship standards. Grantee Partners are eligible to receive Community Impact Funds and donor designations. They undergo an annual review by volunteers, which includes a proposal for program funding, periodic reporting, yearly audit review, and self-assessment results.

DESCRIPTION: CASA is the only national organization of volunteer advocates who have been trained to speak as independent voices in court for children's best interests. The U.S. Department of Justice has recognized CASA as a model program and views it as a "safety net for abused and neglected children." CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children, to make sure they don’t get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish in an inappropriate group or foster home. They stay with each case until permanency is reached. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence—the one adult who cares only for them. CASA volunteers have helped more than two million abused children since the first program was established in 1977.

DESCRIPTION: Houston County Council on Aging feeds seniors and disabled people who are in need and have difficulty feeding themselves for a variety of reasons. We follow the criteria of funding sources such as the Division of Aging Services and Community Development Block Grant when feeding their respective clients. We also serve clients based on need as determined by the Meals on Wheels client assessor through a home visit and consultation with the agency director; and there is also a private pay option.
