Sam Hart, Sr., the legendary figure after whom the award is named, was a remarkable individual who made a lasting impact on the lives of students and the community. His dedication to uplifting minority students through mentorship and guidance, as well as his advocacy for excellence in math and science, left an indelible mark on countless lives. In his honor, the Sam Hart Sr. Community Impact Award was established as the highest honor bestowed by 100 Black Men of Macon-Middle Georgia.

Sylvia McGee, education consultant for United Way of Central Georgia, was also recognized at the event as the recipient of the Sam Hart, Sr. Individual Community Impact award. Her outstanding contributions and tireless efforts in creating positive change exemplify the spirit and values embodied by this prestigious honor.
Sylvia began her journey as a school counselor, dedicating herself to empowering and guiding countless students throughout her tenure. After retiring from the Bibb County School System, her unwavering commitment to education led her to accept a position at United Way. Her expertise and passion for education have been instrumental in spearheading UWCG's Read United initiative and successfully managing the prestigious AARP Experience Corps grant at United Way. Under her exceptional leadership, the program has flourished and garnered national recognition. Sylvia's unwavering dedication to promoting literacy and fostering positive learning experiences has transformed the lives of many.
