United Way of Central Georgia and OneMacon! are thrilled to partner with Pleasant Hill residents to lead a community cleanup effort Saturday, October 3rd 8 am to Noon. Organizers hope the beautification and neighborhood togetherness project brings about a sense of neighborhood responsibility amongst the residents of Pleasant Hill. Visible results likely lead to a heightened interest and involvement among the community members as distressed neighborhoods like Pleasant Hill work toward revitalization. During the Saturday cleanup effort, neighbors will also see support from organizations: Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful, Pleasant Hill Neighborhood Organization, Bibb County Fire Department, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Neighborhood Watch Association, and Fuller Center Macon. In addition to cleanup, volunteers will be assisting with fire/smoke detector checks and installations and property maintenance assistance.
“Partnering with residents to help assist with cleanup and beautification efforts brings about a sense of community and responsibility,” said Dr. Sundra Woodford, United Way Community Engagement Project Manager. “The organizing partners are focusing resources toward the renewal and investment of the Pleasant Hill neighborhood and activities such as this cleanup help to reinforce that commitment.”
