Chris Allers

About Chris Allers: Dr. Chris Allers, the former Executive Vice President of the Georgia Center for Nonprofits and Senior Consultant of the Nonprofit Consulting Group, was an exemplary leader and advocate for positive community change. With a Doctorate in Counseling from Georgia State University, Chris's passion for nonprofit excellence drove him to found or co-found four nonprofits in the Metropolitan Atlanta area. His profound influence also extended to academia, with over a dozen research articles published in peer-reviewed professional journals. He completed his career by co-founding Advantage Consulting LLC and, as one of its two partners, he led evaluation and strategic-planning services for nonprofits and government programs all across the country.

Scholarship Details: The Golden Eagle Chris Allers Citizenship Award is a memorial scholarship created in memory of Dr. Chris Allers. This scholarship is awarded annually to two deserving high school seniors in Central Georgia who embody his dedication to community service. This scholarship is a recognition of their commitment to making a positive impact on their community, aligning with Chris's own passion for creating change. The scholarship will be presented as part of the Golden Eagle Awards Ceremony, marking a significant milestone in celebrating young leaders who follow in Chris's footsteps.

Legacy of Excellence: Dr. Allers' contributions reached beyond founding nonprofits and publishing articles. He played a crucial role as the lead evaluator on numerous federally funded projects addressing mental health, substance abuse treatment, HIV, and homelessness. He believed in the power of systems to effect change and helped stand up and support several collective-impact initiatives, partner coalitions, and systems of care. His commitment to training and education was evident through the frequent delivery of keynote addresses, conference presentations, national workshops, and training events.

Locally, Chris’s initial engagement was critical to the United Way of Central Georgia’s starting Read United, a tutoring program that improves the 3rd-grade reading scores of area children. Being on grade level by the end of 3rd grade is the single most accurate predictor of whether that child will graduate from high school, so Chris’s work has already positively changed the trajectory of thousands of children’s lives in Central Georgia.

Join us in commemorating the enduring legacy of Dr. Chris Allers. This scholarship fund stands as a symbol of his dedication to service, leadership, and community advancement.
